Studio

The Crash Factory is a well established recording studio placed strategically in the Lace Market area of Nottingham City Centre. We refuse to pander to trends and fads in music and the recording industry, trusting only our ears to tell us what sounds good rather than relying on our clients' haircuts to be in fashion.

All our equipment is top notch, our engineers are experienced, knowledgeable 'people' people, and our service is efficient, enjoyable and - honestly - really, really good.

Control Room mixing console Our staff are all gigging and recording musicians with the experience of a thousand nightmare studio sessions to learn from, together with a wealth of positive recording know-how - Engineers here have learned their craft from the guys who have made albums by Feeder, The Pixies, Athlete, Nirvana, Biffy Clyro, Page & Plant and a gazillion more. They know sound and have even produced a few records themselves. The studio is set up primarily to make you sound like you; that might be a you that is bigger, dirtier, cleaner or better but first and foremost we start out with you.

The Crash Factory comprises several pro-designed rooms: a pentagonal-shaped Control Room offering a perfectly flat listening environment; a Live Room with changeable surfaces (from bright and reflective to clean and intimate) and an isolated, 'Dead Room' to record vocals and acoustic guitar with no room sound or to isolate guitar and bass amps from a drum kit.
As well as the main studio rooms, there is a client lounge pimped out with comfortable seating, CD player, iPod connection, TV, and 'vintage' NES console (yes, we have Mario 3). As well as this, we have a near-perfect VHS video library. The lounge also houses our client workstation where you can mess about with tracks outside the main studio, come up with drum loops and keyboard lines, or bitch about things on the internet.

The lounge Next to the lounge is a kitchen with the usual kitchen stuff for those times when you have to eat something. Within spitting distance are Nottingham's best and worst eateries, bars and clubs as well as newsagents, supermarkets and music shops to get all the bits you probably forgot: "...but I thought you packed your hi-hat clutch!"

Because of its central location, The Crash Factory is accessible to everyone, and we have enough great gear for you to turn up on the train from whereveritisyourefrom with nothing but a plectrum and a chord sequence, and go home with a cracking CD. Conversely we can accommodate your monster five-amp guitar rig and your drummer's seventeen-tom kit (or hire in the massive rig for you) and you'll walk out with a similarly great record.
